I am Australian and I live in Mentone, a Melbourne suburb on the coast of Port Phillip Bay. I only ever wanted to be a nurse and spent most of my working life in the operating rooms of a large Melbourne Hospital. I loved my job yet, at the age of 47, I suddenly decided that what I should be doing was painting, even though I’d never painted before.

I spent the next five years as a part time student at the Melbourne School of Art. A year later I had my first exhibition. All my paintings were sold so, on the strength of this, I gave up nursing and began painting fulltime.

I paint mostly in oil and pastel but whatever medium I happen to be using at the time is my favorite. I enjoy painting on location but my studio is where I do most of my work.

The land, the water and the light of Australia are my inspiration. The outback and the remote areas  of Australia plus the wonderful coastline have given me more subject matter than I can ever hope to paint.
